Dr Thava Seelan OAM

MBBS (Sydney), FRACGP, DCH (Diploma in Child health), MPH & TM (Master of Public Health & Tropical Medicine).

Dr Seelan qualified from University of Sydney and completed FRACGP. He obtained additional qualifications such as Diploma of Child Health from University of Sydney and Master of Public Health & Tropical Medicine from James Cook University, Queensland.

Worked in Westmead hospital, Wollongong hospital & Orange hospital

Dr Seelan is an experienced GP who has been working in Toongabbie area over 16 years – In October 2009, he joined a multidisciplinary health team to commence working in Bridgeview Medical Practice. His interests are Child health, Travel medicine, Teaching and his passion is to provide comprehensive primary health care to the community. His practice included carrying out minor surgical procedures and he runs a dermatology clinic once a week.

He is an authorised medical practitioner for work related injuries, pre-employment medical examinations, and occupational health assessments.

He has worked as a medical volunteer in the Sydney 2000 Olympics games.

Dr Seelan has contributed articles in international medical journals and presented in clinical conferences.

He has been currently appointed as medical supervisor for future general practitioners, and Conjoint Senior lecturer attached to University of Western Sydney.

Dr Shanthini Seelan

Dip Child Health, FRACGP

Having the enviable opportunity to make a difference Shanthini Seelan is passionately committed to putting Preventive Health care on the map. This is continuously practiced in her many interests which include Women’s Health (having completed the FPAA courses in Female Sexual health and IUD insertion) and Paediatrics. 
 
Her role as the Clinical Director also oversees her other main interest and passion which is Chronic Disease Management in which she is currently involved in establishing and managing together with the Bridgeview team, the chronic disease clinics. Dr Seelan is also an active member of the Western Sydney Diabetes Steering Committee, an organisation dedicated to manage the Diabetes Epidemic that is raging out here in the West. 
 
Shanthini is also the responsible officer for the implementation of the following innovative programs set to revolutionise Primary Care Patient Centered Medical Home, E linked Health record and Integrated care are such projects that are being trialled successfully here at Bridgeview. Along with her clinical and admin roles, Dr Seelan is also a committed GP supervisor and regularly attends as an examiner for the RACGP fellowship examinations.

Member of the NDSS CALD expert reference group , whose role is to represent as many CALD communities as possible and advice on all CALD DIABETES matters from academic, clinical and research perspectives outside that of Diabetes Australia and its State and Territories Organisations

Dr Lumina Titus

Doctor M.L. Titus began her medical studies at the University of Jaffna (Sri Lanka) and graduated from Sydney University, specialising as a General Practitioner (GP). Doctor Titus has had over ten years of experience as a GP and has cultivated a passion for mentoring and teaching medical students and GP registrars. 
 
She maintains a keen interest and passion for education, antenatal care, paediatrics, refugee health and mental healthcare. Doctor Titus is a regular radio presenter, co-presenting a program called ‘Healthy Living’, a community talk on community radio

Dr Shazia Shinwari

Dr Shazia Shinwari has been with Bridgeview Medical Practice since we opened in October 2009. She has a special interest in Mental Health, Women’s Health and Children’s Health.

Dr Shinwari has 2 years Post Graduate experience in Psychiatry (Khabul). Before joining us, Dr Shinwari also worked at Nepean Hospital for 2 years where she gained experiences in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Cardiology and Emergency Medicine.

Dr Sumana Kodi

I have Master's degree and Pre-Doctoral Degree in Psychiatric Social Work. I have an extensive working experience in Mental Health since the past 30 years including in India as well as in Australia since migrating in 1999. I have Master's degree in Psychotherapy Conversational Model. I am an accredited Mental Health social worker since 2013 and been providing psychological interventions including individual counseling, short term psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, trauma counseling, relationship counseling for individual and couples, Drug & Alcohol counseling, Grief and Loss counseling, Psychoeducation to the patients presenting with mental health as well as drug and &alcohol issues.

I am a bi-lingual clinician and have an extensive experience working with Tamil Refugee Population that suffer from significant trauma related mental health issues impacting their psycho social as well as their occupational functioning. I also offer psychological interventions to
Assisting people in their recovery journey has always been my primary objective in my Mental
Health Professional Practice. I provide psychological interventions under Medicare and ATAPS.  

Dr Nalayini Sugirthan

Dr Nalayini (Nala) Sugirthan completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2004 in Sri Lanka and has been practicing as a clinician for over 15 years,She completed her postgraduate training in 2014 and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and also holds a Diploma in Child Health, obtained from The Sydney Children's Hospital Network. Dr Sugirthan’s many special interests include Childrens and Women's health and she is passionate about improving service quality and health of women and children through innovative approaches from different perspectives. She also maintains a keen interest in refugee health and mental health.

Dr Sugirthan has a passion for teaching and she is a GP supervisor for medical students from the University of Sydney and Western Sydney. She is an examiner for RACGP fellowship examinations. Dr Sugirthan enjoys her work and has been practising at Bridgeview Medical Practice since 2013.

Dr Yoharanee Bal

Dr Nishani Nimalan

Dr Nishani Nimalan is a General Practitioner who has obtained Fellowship with the Royal 
Australian  College of General Practitioners. She also has the additional Qualification of  Diploma in 
Child Health from the Westmead Children's Hospital. 
Dr Nimalan has been working as a doctor for 15 years. She has worked in 3 different countries. 
She can speak English, Tamil and Sinhalese fluently. 
She has special interest in Children, Women and Refugee Health. 
She is a dedicated doctor who thrives in providing quality health care to her patients. 
Outside work she enjoys spending time with her children and classical dancing. 
She is a valued member of the BVMP team. 

Dr Lakmitha Gunathilake

Dr. Pathma Janarthanan

Dr Pathmaranee (Pathma) Janarthanan graduated in medicine (MBBS) in Sri Lanka in 1984. Dr Pathma commenced her medical career in South Australia working in both hospital system, in particular, emergency medicine and general medical practice. She has been a fellow of the Royal College of Australian General Practice (FRACGP) since 1997 and holds a Diploma in Child Health (DCH).
 
Pathma established her own medical practice in 1999 in Adelaide, South Australia and has been the Principal General practitioner until end of 2020. During this period, she established huge patient base with excellent rapport with patients of all ages and backgrounds. Dr Pathma  moved to Sydney in December 2020 to be with her family and joined Bridgeview Medical centre in January 2021.
 
Pathma is a compassionate and thorough doctor and has special interests in women’s and children’s health, antenatal shared care,  chronic disease management, mental health management and is competent in Mirena insertion. 
 
When she is not working, Dr Pathma is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys spending time with her family.
 
Dr Pathma is fluent in Tamil.

Dr Selwyn Selvendran

Surgeon

Dr. Selwyn Selvendran is a well-regarded Consultant Surgeon. He has a wealth of experience in general and acute/trauma surgery. Dr Selvendran has current membership with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), General Surgeons Australia (GSA), and Chest Wall Injury Society (CWIS) USA. 

  • After obtaining his medical degree from the University of Edinburgh (2000), he completed his basic surgical training (MRCS Edinburgh) at the Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust
  • He undertook advanced surgical training at Sydney (Prince of Wales and Bankstown Hospitals), obtaining his FRACS (2015).
  • He was awarded a Trauma Fellowship from Sydney Westmead Hospital (2015-2016). 
  • He completed a 12-month subspecialty fellowship in Upper Gastro-Intestinal, Liver and Pancreatic Surgery at the Sydney Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital (2016-2017). 
  • He completed a surgical training fellowship program in the management of complex Upper Gastro-Intestinal, cancer, bariatric management, and weight loss surgery at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne (2017-2018). During this training, he dealt with complex oncological cases from metropolitan, interstate, and overseas referrals. Concurrently, he pursued his passion of trauma surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (2017-2018).
  • He is currently a General and a Trauma surgeon at St.George Hospital. He is a Visiting Surgeon at Sydney Private Hospital, St.George Private Hospital and Hurstville Private Hospital. He also attend Griffith Base Hospital.

Jennet Thevarajah is a Credentialed Diabetes Educator and Registered Nurse who has vast amount of experience working with people who have Type 1, Type 2 & Gestational diabetes.
 
Jennet provides education and support to individuals with diabetes enabling them to gain control over their self-management of diabetes.
 
Jennet can provides diabetes education and support on blood glucose monitoring, insulin injections and specialises in insulin pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring.
